Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions about the TTW rating, the calculation system, and connection.
How does the rating change? expand_more
In short
Ratings change only after completed, valid games. A win gives a boost, while a loss removes part of that same value. Beating a stronger opponent changes the rating more noticeably. Technical results do not count toward rating.
If you want the exact math, there is a “Details” block below.
Details: how is the rating calculated? expand_more
The idea is simple: a win over a stronger opponent is worth more, and a win over a weaker opponent is worth less. A loss does not cancel the full amount, only part of it. This keeps the rating both motivating and sensitive to the quality of wins.
Exact formula:
RatingWonNew = RatingWonCurrent + DeltaRatingLostNew = RatingLostCurrent - Delta / 2Delta = max(0, 100 - RatingWonCurrent + RatingLostCurrent) / 10 * KTKT = max(0.2, round(R.avg / 200) / 10), whereR.avgis the average rating of the tournament participants.
If the winner's rating is more than 100 points higher than the loser's rating, the delta becomes zero.
How do I connect my club to the TTW rating? expand_more
To connect a club, you must complete the official application on the "Connect Club" page. Applications are accepted only from club administrators.
After reviewing your application, we will provide access to the admin panel.
I noticed an error in my information (name, club, results). How do I fix this? expand_more
Only the organizer of the tournament where the error occurred, or your club administrator, can edit personal data and tournament results in TTWRating.
Please contact them directly. This will ensure the changes are correct and confirmed.
Is the rating updated immediately after the tournament? expand_more
Yes, instantly. As soon as the tournament organizer enters and confirms the final result in the system, the algorithm Automatically recalculates the ratings of all involved players. Changes are displayed on the website immediately after saving.
What is the difference between Rating and Players?expand_more
Rating is the official table ordered by current rating. Players is a profile directory designed for finding someone by name, city and other details and exploring their history.
Why is efficiency not always shown?expand_more
Efficiency summarizes a player's average finish relative to tournament size. To avoid a misleading percentage based on one appearance, it is shown only after at least ten tournaments with a recorded finishing place.
How reliable is the upcoming tournament calendar?expand_more
The calendar is built from schedules published by clubs. A particular date may still be moved or cancelled, so check the club page for current contacts and notices before travelling.
